Counting the Omer

1,980 years ago yesterday (Shabbat, just before sundown) Yahshua arose from the dead and is alive forevermore!

Yes, today is the 1,980th anniversary of the Messiah, acting as the High Priest (after the order of the Meleck Tzadik), presented the Firstfruits from the grave as the wave offering before the Father's throne in heaven. These resurrected saints were raised from the dead soon after Yahshua's resurrection (Mt 27:52-53). They walked out their graves, clothed with an incorruptible body. At that same moment the Firstfruits of the barley were being harvested by the priests in a nearby field on the Mount of Olives.

What a spectacle it must have been for the faithful Israelites who were in attendance at the Firstfruit harvest. They were there to see the fulfillment of the very rehearsal in which they were participating! It is not surprising that we read in the early chapters of the book of Acts, that. . . "a great company of Cohanim (priests) were obedient to the faith." (Acts 6:7)

Today, on the day of Firstfruits, (Sunday, April 27th) we begin the prophetic countdown to Shavuot. Each year, we count the seven Sabbaths that lead us to the 50th day which is the one day Feast of Shavuot - misnamed "Pentecost" by the Greeks. The 50th day was the day that the Jewish Apostles were "all in one accord, in one place" when they were filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Apostles were obedient to the Torah Command to "count the omer" (a measure of the Firstfruits of the barley crop). The day after seven Sabbaths, we are required to have a "kadosh mikra" or holy assembly of saints at which we celebrate the goodness and blessings of our Creator. Hebrew 10:25 states, "do not forsake the assembly or yourselves together, as the manner of some (the clueless) is. . ." This statement is directly referring to the commanded assemblies of Yahweh. This year we are sponsoring (with the generous help of our ministry partners) a national assembly of saints in the "mile high city" of Denver, Colorado. It may not be Jerusalem, but almost everyone who attends from North America will have to "go up to the Feast!"

VideoOH WELL, that's the way it goes. This week in our Torah portion we receive word of a great and terrible famine in the land of Canaan. Remembering the path his father walked, Isaac set out for the land of Egypt where there was plenty of food and water. But YHWH stopped Isaac and called him to have faith in his ability to provide for him even in the midst of famine. Isaac obeyed and YHWH delivered. While everyone else was struggling to survive and eke out a meager existence, Isaac's planting produced a hundred fold. But as we shall see in this portion blessings can sometimes become a curse. As Isaac increased, by the hand of YHWH, the Canaanites and Philistines decreased. King Abimelech astutely recognized that this shift of prosperity also brought with it a shift of potential political power. Soon Abimelech's men began fighting with Isaac over wells and water. Repeatedly Isaac was exiled from the wells he and his men had dug. But every time they moved YHWH would bless them with yet more water and prosperity. Soon Abimelch wanted to play "Let's Make a Deal" with Isaac. Here we see the beginning of a powerful pattern that will haunt the children of Israel right to the present day. We shall also see that not every well is the same. Join me this week at the "Wells of Isaac" and let us drink deeply of the pure Torah, as we journey together on the Ancient Path of Faith

From The Pan To The Fire!

Frying PanFor five years, Michael Rood has not had the permission to share two visions that he received in Israel that concern the intermediate fulfillment of the Day of Trumpets. The time to speak out has now come. Yom Teruah 6008 - The Day of Trumpets 2008 - October 1- 5, Detroit Michigan, will be Michael's farewell message before returning to Israel. The Prime Minister of Israel has just resigned and the hounds of hell are gleefully dancing over their newly unhampered opportunity to revive Israel's covenant with death and their agreement with hell - and the U.S. State Department - to nullify the Almighty's covenant with Abraham. There is little doubt that the brimstone is about to hit the fan.

There is no time to waste. Michael is returning to Israel so that he may record "The Seventy-Week Ministry of Messiah" which will detail the Gospel of the Kingdom as it is taught on location throughout the promise land. He also hopes to record his version of the book of Acts, "Learning to Walk by the Spirit - the HARD Way!" and finally culminating with "The Revelation of Messiah" recorded on the aisle of Patmos where the Revelation was first received by Yochanan.

Father's love for a straying son > Jacob's Ladder

VideoIn this week's portion assumptions abound, and not one of them is made by the Creator. What should have been and could have been a very tender expression of a father's love for a straying son, quickly turned into a full blown example of a dysfunctional family, with the father and eldest son competing with the wits of the mother and second son. The rebellious son is promised a blessing by the father, while the obedient son is convinced by his mother to lie to and deceive his father in order to steal his brother's blessing. What could possibly be the reason for the Creator to include this pathetic example of family in the Torah? What would cause the chosen family to act this way? What were these heroes of the bible thinking when they perpetrated such things against one another? Please join me again this week on the ancient path of faith and discover the answers to these and many other questions that will arise as we walk through the Torah one step at a time.

A Rood Awakening is expanding!

The Holy Spirit is moving and so are we! As the Spirit of the Holy One moves over the body of Messiah, the demand for truth and Pure Torah has increased incredibly. The demand for "Leaven Free" teaching materials requires us to triple our efforts and increase our staff. Due to this increase we have outgrown our current office. We are up to 25 employees, our production studio is growing and the workload has increased with the addition of The Lydia Project. Yahweh has provided for us through you and we are moving our office to a bigger building just across the street from our current location.

This growth in size and output is not without a cost. Moving has expenses and technical difficulties associated with it. Phones need to be switched over, internet connections need to be re-installed, and offices need to be moved, etc. . . so please be patient over the next week as we get settled. Also, please consider a special offering to help us meet the growing demand for the Pure Torah. Help us to equip laborers to send them into the fields while the harvest is ripe.

Texas Tirade

One balmy August night outside of San Antonio, Texas, I strapped a cassette player to my belt, nestled the headphones over my ears and began a planned 45-minute walk on a deserted road to allow me to focus my attention on a teaching that came out of a messianic conference in the northeast. The title of the teaching was, "The Feasts of Adonai", which should have tipped me off that this was going to be an anemic, limp wristed version of a topic that had become my fiery passion in life.

That night in Texas will live in my brain forever. I listened to the teacher, so highly praised by his colleagues as he read from Leviticus 23:24;

". . .In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation."

He then expounded from the depths of his seminary-trained soul, "that is about all we know about the Day of Trumpets - except for the fact that we now call this feast Rosh Hashanah - the head of the year."

"What do you mean, "we" now call this feast!!!" I yelled loud enough to awaken the sleeping armadillos, "do you have a mouse in your pocket? I am certainly not in the group that you consider "we" - nor is this all we understand about the Day of Trumpets!"

I went into a tirade that lasted well over an hour as I lectured this purported teacher on the difference between following the Messiah and following the religious system Yahshua exposed as a fraudulent imitation of true Torah. I listened for a few minutes more and then I really blew up (as I am only free to do on an abandoned road a mile from the nearest ranch gate.) For the next several hours I walked that Texas trail in body, but I was at that conference in my mind and spirit. I poured out my soul to these people who named the name of the Messiah but were being led down the path of ignorance by teachers who were busy blowing smoke up each other's kippahs.

I arrived back at my point of departure as the sun blued the morning sky. My solitary seminar was over, the armadillos adequately impressed, and I took a short nap before departing for Two Harbors, Minnesota. There was no question what I would be teaching for the next six weeks leading up to the Day of Trumpets. In the end, it would take over 14 hours to teach some of what we know about the Feast of Trumpets.

For those who will leave paganized Christianity behind to follow the real Yahshua, and for those who will leave the man-made rules and twisted traditions of pharisaic Judaism behind to follow the real Messiah, the Feasts of Trumpets and yes, all of the Feasts of Yahweh, hold treasures so precious that I was compelled to sell all that I owned and buy the field.

THE FEAST OF THE WATCHMEN
Yom Teruah 6008 - Day of Trumpets 2008

The Day of Trumpets is the Feast Day - the Kadosh Mikra - the Holy Rehearsal - that occurs each year "on a day and hour that no man knows," because it is the only "prophetic shadow picture of good things to come" that occurs at the moment that the new moon (of the seventh Biblical month) is sighted.

By rabbinic decree, this auspicious Day of Trumpets was fictitiously changed to Rosh Hashanah and deliberately neutered of its messianic significance four hundred years after the resurrection of Yahshua. Today, the first day of the seventh month remains a hollow shell of its former prophetic glory, and the Creator's Calendar is openly disdained by the mentally hobbled masses. (Leviticus 23:24)

For the Believer, the Day of Trumpets is the most significant Feast on the upcoming prophetic calendar. We MUST understand the marching orders given on the Day of Trumpets or we will never understand the book of Revelation or "what the Messiah wants his servants to know about the things that MUST come to pass." (Revelation 1:1) Furthermore, if we ignore the Day of Trumpets, we will not be qualified to participate in the fulfillment of the Feast of Sukkot!

Because of the rampant ignorance inbred into the Christian religious system and the illegitimate nullification of the "Times and Seasons of YHWH" by rabbinic Pharisee-ism, the watchmen have been distracted from their true assignment and have been playing games with man-made religious traditions rather than sounding the alarm for the true enemy pounding at the gate. The Gospel of the Kingdom has been lost!

The Story of Creation from different Cultures

While the story of creation may have been passed down from one generation to the next in oral fashion, the catastrophic event of the flood would have possibly stopped the oral tradition dead in its tracks. Here we must consider the reliability of the testimony of Adam and Eve being kept intact for 2,000 plus years.

The second event to interfere with the possible transmission of the ancient tales of creation was the confusion of languages, leading to the development of diverse ethnic groups and cultures.

It should not surprise us to discover that each ethnic group has within its cultic literature some variation of the creation narrative. It should also not surprise us to discover that a number of these “creation myths” contain similar patterns and details to those in the biblical account.

From Africa come the following stories:

The Ancient One, known as Unkulunkulu, is the Zulu creator. He came from the reeds and from them he brought forth the people and the cattle. He created everything that is: mountains, streams, snakes, etc. He taught the Zulu how to hunt, how to make fire, and how to grow food. In the beginning there was only darkness, water, and the great Elohim Bumba. One day Bumba, in pain from a stomachache, vomited up the sun. The sun dried up some of the water, leaving land. Still in pain, Bumba vomited up the moon, the stars, and then some animals: the leopard, the crocodile, the turtle, and finally, some men, one of whom, Yoko Lima, was white like Bumba.

From Japan:

Before the heavens and the earth came into existence, all was a chaos, unimaginably limitless and without definite shape or form. Eon followed eon: then, lo! Out of this boundless, shapeless mass something light and transparent rose up and formed the heaven. This was the Plain of High Heaven, in which materialized a deity called Ame-no-Minaka-Nushi-no-Mikoto (the Deity-of-the-August-Center-of-Heaven). Next the heavens gave birth to a deity named Takami-Musubi-no-Mikoto (the High-August-Producing Wonderous-Deity), followed by a third called Kammi-Musubi-no-Mikoto (the Divine-Producing-Wondrous-Deity). These three divine beings are called the Three Creating Deities.

From China:

In the beginning the heavens and earth were still one and all was chaos. The universe was like a big black egg, carrying Pan Gu inside itself. After 18 thousand years Pan Gu woke from a long sleep. He felt suffocated, so he took up a broadax and wielded it with all his might to crack open the egg. The light, clear part of it floated up and formed the heavens; the cold, turbid matter stayed below to form earth. Pan Gu stood in the middle, his head touching the sky, his feet planted on the earth. The heavens and the earth began to grow at a rate of ten feet per day, and Pan Gu grew with them. After another 18 thousand years, the sky was higher, the earth thicker, and Pan Gu stood between them like a pillar 9 million li in height so that they would never join again. When Pan Gu died, his breath became the wind and clouds, his voice the rolling thunder. One eye became the sun and one the moon.

From Maya:

In the beginning were only Tepeu and Gucumatz. These two sat together and thought, and whatever they thought came into being. They thought earth, and there it was. They thought mountains, and so there were. They thought trees and sky and animals. Each came into being. Because none of these creatures could praise them, they formed more advanced beings of clay. Because the clay beings fell apart when wet, they made beings

In all of these various stories we witness similar elements to those in the biblical narrative of creation, such as primordial chaos, division of water, winds fluttering over the water, the creation of living things from clay, etc. While some modern scholars may use these similarities to challenge the authenticity of the biblical account, I would argue that these similar details help to establish the truth of the biblical account. What becomes evident from these different stories is that at some point in every culture’s history, its members stood in the present and questioned where they came from. It is the answer to this question of origin that establishes the character, meaning, and purpose of a culture, as well as its future direction. While many cultures may have wrested the answer to the question of their origin from various ancient tales and the apparent evidences of nature, this cannot be said of the people of Israel. While elements of the biblical narrative may have been known and passed down through Noah and his descendants, the version that we know and study in the Torah was revealed to Moses some 2,000 years after the events. While we may easily imagine the truth of this story changing with each culture’s language and circumstances, these variations were corrected at Mount Sinai. We should also recall that the ancestors of these diverse people groups all came from Noah and his sons. At one point in their history, they all knew and believed in the one true Elohim. Over time, however, most of these people groups fell to superstitions, myths, and polytheism. Some may be surprised to discover that even the ancient Hebrew people assimilated the cultures around them and held varying beliefs about creation and the number of elohim. We must remember that the ancient Hebrew people were not always monotheistic.

Because of this cultural drifting from the truth into polytheistic myths and legends concerning the beginning of the universe, we may understand the Creator’s desire to reestablish the truth upon Mount Sinai. We may ask why the Creator waited until Sinai to reveal the truth of His identity as the sole Creator of the universe. As we have already stated above, the answer to this question of origin establishes a culture’s character, meaning, purpose, and direction. We should, therefore, see in this revelation of the story of creation a direct relationship between the Creator and the children of Israel, their character, identity, meaning, purpose, and future.

YHWH

The WORD OF YHWH flows like a river throughout the whole of scripture. Like pure water this word brings life even in the most arid of places and the most desolate of souls. From the beginning of time mankind was meant to be the "earthen vessel" that would carry this life giving water to the whole world. But just as a river picks up silt and pollution as it rolls down the hill, so too has the Word of YHWH been polluted by the traditions of mankind and his need for religion. The PATH OF PURE TORAH is a treasure map showing us where we may find the pure life-giving WORD OF YHWH, that we may dive in and be cleansed of all religious defilement.

Concept of Grace

One of the most misunderstood topics in all of the scripture according to the western Gentile mindset is the concept of grace and its relationship to the law. Christian theologians incessantly fantasize that "grace" was invented on the day of Pentecost, and until the day that Peter baptized three thousand people in his second story bathtub, an angry God ruled the universe by his ridiculously impossible "law".

True "grace" began in the Garden of Eden - it was administered by an angel with a flaming sword that kept Adam from making a mistake that would be eternally uncorrectable. Five thousand years ago, "Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD" before the deluge wiped the majority of humanity from the face of the earth. The word grace appears over five times more often in the Torah than it does in Paul's writings - but that does not mean that "the age of grace" ended at Pentecost. God's grace is just as eternal as his law - which is admittedly sweeter than honeycomb and more precious than fine gold (according to King David who was an obvious recipient of Yah's grace).

We grow up with prejudiced filters that skew our perceptions of the Almighty and his eternal plan. Todd's Bennett's seventh volume in the series, The Law and Grace, removes those blinding filters and gives a heavenly perspective to a unified subject that has been ignorantly twisted into tangents as diverse as War and Peace. This insightful work is an essential clarification that effectively defines the foundation of the Messianic movement.

Shavuot Celebration

What a feast it was! Hundreds of men, women and children gathered in Denver, CO to feed on Glenn McWilliams' teaching of the Word as water and his in-depth commentary on the Torah portion. Michael Rood walked us through Acts 1 & 2 and the Book of Revelation in his special teaching style that makes scripture come alive. We joined in praise and worship with Jimmie Black, Paul Wilber, Brenda Wheeler and the Israeli Celebration Dancers. Judith Rood updated us on the Lydia World Outreach Project with many pictures from her recent trip to Israel. Our children met with Mrs. Noah in the Ark Room for their own Torah class with crafts and games.

On Saturday night as Paul Wilber led us in worship, he called all the men to the front. What an awesome moment as the men worshipped in song and then Paul and the assembly prayed for them and spoke blessing over them.

That same night, all the children attending Mrs. Noah's Torah Tales class came in with the puppets they had made and sang for us. If you are like me, nothing touches my heart like seeing my grandchildren learning Torah and praising Yahweh.

Monday morning while many of us were packing and leaving for home, several people asked Michael if they could have a mikveh service in the outdoor swimming pool. He agreed and a line formed at the pool along with many witnesses. When the mikveh was done, Michael went back inside. Soon he noticed another group gathered by the pool and went out again - MIKVEH #2! What a glorious close to our Shavuot gathering!!

Michael Rood > Note From the Staff

Shalom to all our friends and family.

The staff thanks you for your generosity, prayers, and comments from our last newsletter. It is truly heartwarming to know that we have such an extended family that cares. Because of the overwhelming response, we have decided to continue to give you updates from inside this ministry, as a family should do.

Here at the office, we get hundreds of letters, emails and phone calls from people sharing their testimonies each week. We try our best to read each piece of mail, genuinely listen to each phone call and respond to every e-mail. This gets tough as our family grows, but these pieces of communication are the gold nuggets that make being on the front lines of the battle worth it all.

Last month, we received a letter from a gentleman that touched us to the point of tears. This month, we would like to share that letter with you, our extended family so that you can feel the joy that ran through our souls as we received his second letter this month.


"Dear Michael Rood and staff,


"I am writing this letter long-hand due to some changes in my life. Sadly, we have let our internet go as well as our satellite TV that received your Sky-Angel channel program.

My wife and I came to Albuquerque, NM to see your Jonah Code presentation and unfortunately we were unable to purchase all of your materials that were offered at your seminar.

I have wanted to support your ministry financially for a long time but I felt checked in my spirit at the time and we both know why, it was prior to your move to Michigan.

Now with a great sadness I write you and ask your help. Please bear with me as I relate the details of the past several months. Please understand that I am not sad for myself, but my family. I waited until I was in my 40's to marry and have a family. I am now just 50 and have 4 beautiful children, Yolanda 6 ½, Dennis 5, Lynnelle 3 ½, and Nikita 2. My wife and I planned them kind of close together due to my age; my wife is 35 and her name is Oxana.

I have built homes over the last few years and felt a little run-down. I thought it might be my age, hard work and trying to raise my family. For forty-years I loved the Lord, but Yashua the Messiah truly became real to me through your teaching. I feel like I wandered in the desert for 40 years and I don't want my children to do the same as I did, going to churches with the "Western gentile mentality." Michael, would you consider doing some teaching for children, my children, all children? I'll help you if I can. Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and The Christmas tree are gone from our house but I don't know for how long because I was diagnosed (Feb 15, 2008) with terminal prostate cancer. It's a stage 4, very aggressive and has moved from my prostrate to my bones, all the way from my left femur to my pelvic bone, and up the spine to about the shoulder blades. Good news is: it is not in any of my organs. The prostate was surgically cut off from the testosterone and I had a steel rod inserted in my left femur.

Time? I was given 1 to 5 years to live, short time to bring all my children into the kingdom of God with my poor teaching skills. In six months will be the first time goal of treatment, with surgery, radiation treatment and medicine, hopefully the doctors will stop the cancer growth. In 3 more years the cancer could find a new source of life from some other place in my body. Yahweh could heal me if He wills it, but in all likelihood, I will have a premature death caused by this cancer. If I make 3 to 5 years, possibly there are better medicines that could come available.

The real issue to me is: please, help me with the "right" teaching materials to teach my children the "right way."

I have gone to various churches all my life and I think they are pretty silly when it comes to teaching. My wife is Russian orthodox, though she liked you in person at your seminar. After several attempts at various churches, needless to say, I am still looking for somewhere to celebrate the Sabbath. I would love for my family to celebrate Pesach in Michigan with your planned celebration, only YHVH knows.

This letter left us with an empty feeling in our stomachs and a strong need to do everything we could to help this family. You see, behind the scenes we deal with it all-the good, the bad, and the ugly. But these types of letters are the reason we continue fighting on the front lines of this battlefield.
A care package was assembled, as instructed by Michael for those who cannot afford it. The Torah commands us to allow those in need to glean from the corners of our fields and we do that regularly out of obedience and love.
We sent the care package and called the family to let them know how much their story touched us. A month later, the second letter arrived . . .


"Dear Rood Family and staff members,

4 or 5 weeks ago I wrote your office with my request for material to teach my children as I have terminal cancer. A Rood staff member called me to talk about my situation and the material was sent as well as the 6008 Shavuot registration.

First, I appreciate the material so much, along with the registration fee being waived so my family can attend the event. I sent a small love offering of $25.00 and frankly, I didn't tell my wife as it was my last $25.00 and I didn't want to upset her. Within 10 days or so, Yahweh blessed us with some $2500.00 to meet all our bills and expenses connected with our current situation. As some more financial help has come our way, I asked my wife if I could send you another $25.00 (things are really tight due to my cancer and treatment, and my wife is working and currently handling all our finances). Due to our situation, I expected the "square eyes" and "sour look" my wife would give me at this request. But she said, 'Go ahead, it's your money anyway.' The next day, two checks were in the mailbox totaling close to $600.00 - as well as other positive financial news. Yahweh truly has provided for all my family's needs. Everything is tight but we are keeping up on our house payments and maintaining a temporary residence in Denver while I undergo treatment.

Last but not least, every time I receive your newsletter, all I do is weep and cry over it. I feel so upset that I can do so little to help the only ministry I believe in. I spent some 35 years in various church denominations that I really don't think were right, but I didn't have too many choices. I tithed for years - when I wish I could help your ministry now, I am unable to be of much help and I only hope my prayers are helpful.

I know the "evil one" fights Michael for all it's worth, because we all know Michael is in the "elite special forces" for Yahweh, instead of the Marines.

I will do my best to support Rood Ministries in prayer and financially when I can. I hope that Yahweh will multiply my little help as only the Creator can.

Our tears multiplied at this letter. The reason this was so powerful was not because we were surprised that Yahweh had kept His promises about multiplying the tithes and offerings, but because it finally put ALL the money that is sent in by ALL our supporters in perspective.

We really never thought about why people send in money, but now it all makes sense. It is because they believe in this message and the work that we do. The Almighty says, "I will bless those who bless.."

We cannot thank you all enough for the support that you have given, especially the prayers! We need the intercessory prayer just as much as the finances. This family is supporting us with prayer and the small portion they can afford and they are being blessed.

Michael Rood will then take us on his much-requested "Chronological journey through the Book of Revelation" - for the first time in over 10 years! This night alone is worth the trip from Siberia.

Keeping the Feast of Shavuot is not an option - it is a commandment that comes laden with blessings and benefits acquired only by those who trust Him.

Finally, we have the opportunity to quote this verse from the book of Hebrews in context:
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together (to celebrate the Feasts of the LORD), as the manner of some (spiritual deadbeat) is, but encourage and strengthen each other more and more as you see the day (of His return) approaching" (Hebrews 10:25 MIV).

Tzitzit

Numbers 15:38-41 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them
fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put
upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: 39 and it shall be unto you for a fringe,
that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of YHWH, and do them;
and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a
whoring: 40 that ye may remember, and do all My commandments, and be holy unto your
Elohim. 41 I am YHWH your Elohim, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your
Elohim: I am YHWH your Elohim.

Deuteronomy 22:12
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture,
wherewith thou coverest thyself.

Twice in the Torah the children of Israel are commanded to place fringes upon the corners of their garments as a reminder of the commandments of YHWH. The word "fringes" in these two passages is actually translating two different Hebrew words. In the first reference, the word "fringes" is translating the Hebrew word tzitzit (tsade, yud, tsade, yud, tav), which may be translated as "floral or wing-like projection," "a forelock of hair," "fringe," or "tassel."1 The exact etymology of this word is debatable. It is possible that the root of the word tzitzit is the word tzitz (tsade, yud, tsade), which means "bloom" or "flower."2 From this we may understand that the tzitzit were to be a form of ornamentation or decoration. It is also possible that the word tzitzit is part of a play on words. The word tzutz (tsade, vav, tsade), which in some grammatical forms becomes tzitz (tsade, yud, tsade), may be translated as "to look" or "to gaze upon." The word metzitz is used, for example, in the Song of Solomon.

Song of Solomon 2:9 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart: behold, he standeth
behind our wall, he looketh (metzitz) forth at the windows, shewing himself through the
lattice.

Regardless of which of these two words tzitzit is derived from, we should recognize that both are
references to things that involve our eyes seeing. Flowers, blossoms, ornamentation, and decorations are all meant to be looked at or gazed upon. It is clear from the commandment that the tzitzit or fringes were to be seen by the children of Israel. Thus the word tzitzit, while referring to a flower, blossom, tassel, or fringe, may, when looked at or gazed upon, remind the children of Israel of their covenant with YHWH.

Numbers 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and
remember all the commandments of YHWH, and do them; and that ye seek not after
your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring.

While the word for "look" in this passage is ra'a, not tzutz or metzitz, the name tzitzit may still indicate that these ornaments were to be visible to the children of Israel.
The second word translated as "fringes" is the Hebrew word gadyl (gimmel, dalet, yud, lammed), which may be translated as "thread," "twisting," "tassel," "festoon," or "wreath."3 Here we may think of something braided.

vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.

Once again, we are commanded to place braided threads upon the corners of our garments. We may ask why the Torah uses a different word in this instance. I would suggest that it is to give us greater detail. The word gadyl comes from the root word gadal (gimmel, dalet, lammed), which may be translated as "great," "large," "grow," "expand," or "become great."4 This same root may also mean "plaited" or "braided." Here we may think of a thread growing large or great by being braided with other threads until the thread becomes a rope. By using the word gadyl, the Torah gives us another detail concerning the fringes or tassels that are to be worn. From the word gadyl we may understand that the fringes are to be braided.
The idea that the fringes are to be braided is further supported by a third word that is used in conjunction with the tzitzit - the Hebrew word patyl (pey, tav, yud, lammed), which means "a thread," "twine," or "twisted or braided cord."5 We are commanded that the tzitzit should have a patyl of blue upon it.

While the English word "ribband" evokes images of a thick stripe of satin cloth, the Hebrew simply means twisted, braided thread or twine. Thus it would seem that the threads of the tassel are to somehow be braided with or bound by a thread of blue. < href="http://www.michaelroodministries.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ARA&Product_Code=T100&Category_Code=NEW">tzitzit. The first is a tunic-like garment that was worn over another outer garment. This tunic-like garment had four corners and was clearly visible to others. A second blanket or cloak-like, outer garment was often worn to protect against the elements of wind, sand, dust, rain, and heat. This larger garment was often used as a
tent for shade or a blanket to keep one warm at night. It is this outer garment that is referred to in the above passages from Ruth as well as in the teachings concerning the receiving of a pledge.

Exodus 22:26-27 If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it
unto him by that the sun goeth down: 27for that is his covering (kesut) only, it is his
raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? And it shall come to pass, when he crieth
unto Me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

Deuteronomy 24:12-13 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge: 13in
any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may
sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before
YHWH thy Elohim.

Deuteronomy 24:17 Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the
fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge.

Both of these garments are still with us today, but they have changed over time. The larger, blanket-like outer garment is evident today in the modern tallit or prayer shawl. While this large, four-cornered garment was a standard piece of clothing in days gone by, the tallit or prayer shawl of today has been relegated to times of prayer. An adaptation of the tunic-like garment has been preserved for us in the tallit katan or little prayer shawl with the tzitzit attached that is worn as a four-cornered undergarment. This later garment was developed during a time of persecution when it was illegal to wear tzitzit. By wearing the tallit katan concealed beneath other clothing, the believer could still fulfill the commandment to wear tzitzit without overtly endangering his life. While this practice is understandable in times of persecution, the commandment of the Torah requires that the tzitzit be visible. It is possible that the cloak and the tunic, as well as any other four-cornered garments, were festooned with tzitzit. Since neither cloaks nor tunics play much part in our modern wardrobe, we may ask how we are to wear tzitzit today. Putting on a tallit or prayer shawl for prayer is indeed a fulfilling of the commandment to wear tzitzit. But is this limited usage truly consistent with the spirit of the Torah?
If the purpose of wearing tzitzit is to encourage one to remember the covenant, keep the covenant, and avoid the temptation to follow one's own eyes and heart to chase after other elohim, then it would seem that the spirit of the Torah is commanding that tzitzit should be worn continually, not just at times of prayer. The spirit of the Torah seems to suggest that the tzitzit are to be visible as we walk through the temptations of the world. That the tzitzit are to be on the "four corners" of our garments seems to indicate that no matter which direction we turn or to which corner of the earth we are sent, the tzitzit would remind us that we are always to keep the covenant, even to the four corners of the earth.
Fulfilling the spirit of the commandment to wear tzitzit may be accomplished in several ways. The tzitzit may be worn on a tallit katan or little prayer shawl worn under the clothing like a tunic with the tzitzit themselves still being visible. Tzitzit may be directly tied on belt loops or pinned to the hem of a garment.
It is also fitting to create an appropriate, tunic-like garment to which tzitzit may be attached to wear over one's clothing. There are also shirts that have splits up each side to create four corners that will accommodate tzitzit being tied onto them. What seems to be most important is that tzitzit be worn and that they be visible. The length, manner of tying, and color(s), other than blue, used to make the tzitzit are left to the imagination of the children of Israel. What is commanded, however, is that we wear them.

Another question that may be raised at this time is who is to wear tzitzit. The rabbis have declared that the large, blanket-like outer garment as well as the smaller tunic are to be considered men's clothing. Therefore, the rabbis reason that both the larger prayer shawl as well as the little prayer shawl that are derived from these ancient garments are likewise men's garments. Since tzitzit belong to the prayer shawls, and since the Torah forbids women from wearing men's clothing, the rabbis reason that women should not wear tzitzit.

Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither
shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto YHWH thy
Elohim.

This rabbinic teaching has caused many of the children of Israel to stumble and violate the Torah's clear commandment to wear tzitzit. The Torah does not designate that tzitzit be tied only to the garments of the men. The Torah is very clear on this matter. The children of Israel are to wear tzitzit. "The children of Israel," as a title, refers to ALL of those who would identify themselves as a part of the covenant people of YHWH regardless of bloodline, age, or gender. Wearing tzitzit is a part of keeping the covenant. Since all of the children of Israel are called to keep the covenant, then all of the children of Israel should wear tzitzit. It is, therefore, appropriate for men, women, and children to don tzitzit. Men, as well as women and children, are vulnerable to temptation, and, therefore, should avail themselves of every encouragement to remember the covenant and to keep it.

By wearing tzitzit, we also make it possible for our brethren identify us. Since those who seek to keep the covenant seem few and far between, it is always a joy and a blessing to identify another Torah-keeper. Seeing that we are not alone in the world is, in itself, a great encouragement to keep the Torah.
Therefore, if not for our own sake, then for the encouragement of our brethren, we should all faithfully fulfill this simple commandment and wear tzitzit on the corners of our garments.

The Light at the Northern End of the Tunnel and Iceland in the Raw.

Europe is the door at which we had been kicking for years, but the red carpet was rolled out at the back entrance. This was not the hand of man who opened these doors. I had the opportunity to tell the story in front of the cameras of an Icelandic network just before returning to America. You can watch the entire divine reality television unfold on my Two-DVD update from Iceland. It was on this final stop of my seven month multinational tour that I saw the hand of the Almighty revealed. It is now obvious that Heaven has been working overtime since we handed over the reigns of our marketing department to the Almighty.

I have included the list of new broadcasters for our winter and spring TV line up in the U.S.A. and Canada. Many of the stations have put us on at reduced rates. This is allowing us to reach into the homes of millions around the U.S. We are diligently editing the programs with our new contact information so that callers can reach the REAL Michael Rood. Pomegranate Mysteries

Hair uncombed and teeth unbrushed, I groggily added the grounds to my stove top espresso pot to begin the morning after a long Shabbat of teaching and fellowship in our home in the Galilee. Rachel and Darlene had been stirring for a while, and Rachel had unexpectedly taken over the project that I had begun the night before - counting the seeds of a giant pomegranate.

Watching over her shoulder for a few moments to ensure the accuracy of the count was maintained, I noticed a little Sony pocket camera on the counter in front of her and a thought struck me. "Darlene! I need your help. Come down to the kitchen," I bellered up the stairs.

I set the pocket camera on "movie" and I directed the newly appointed camera person to focus in on the split pomegranate, and then to back up to frame the shot of Rachel into which I would enter from the side. As the smell of fresh espresso filled the room, I was awakened to the fact that an Internet program need not be a carefully scripted 28 minute 30 second production in order to be a viable teaching platform. What resulted from that impromptu low-resolution video session is, "Pomegranate Mysteries".

With the fun stylings of "video magician", Chris Hanna, I am presenting the first half of this light-weight video on the Internet for your enjoyment. As you watch it please remember that this is not a million dollar an episode Hollywood reality series that is rehearsed and planned to the nth detail, but rather the result of less than 30 seconds of planning and no rehearsal.

A Note From The Ministry Team

We the Staff wanted to write you and express our thoughts about this ministry. This letter is not from Michael; at the time of this writing he and Judith are in Israel.

There comes a time in every ministry when it seems like that ministry has been tested to its limits. All of us at Michael Rood Ministries feel that we have faced these testings and trials for the past five months. Michael Rood doesn't complain; he just keeps working and moving ahead. We know, after working for Michael these past months, that he will not tell you of this burden.

No one on the present staff was a part of the old ministry, but we see every day what God is doing for people through this ministry. We answer the phones and read the mail from brand new people coming into this Messianic walk, expressing how much this ministry has opened their eyes.

When you, who are long time Michael Rood supporters, also express to us what this ministry means to you, we all appreciate it, especially Michael. In fact, one of our great joys is carrying back mail to Michael and watching him pour over it.

Though we are all new to this ministry, it has become family. It is hard to see your family attacked again and again. It hurts us to see the pain on Michael's and Judith's faces when some send harsh letters about the past or criticize them for doing what the law requires them to do.

We are not here to judge those who worked for Michael before, but we just don't understand the venom that has come from them toward this work. In December we could really tell that people had read the panel's report and must have believed it. What puzzles us is how any right thinking, fair-minded person could believe that the report was unbiased? We know the truth. We work here every day, six days a week. We know the truth, not the twisted half-truths people say - but the truth. We know where the money comes from and how it is spent.

Every time a company calls about a debt incurred by the previous group, Michael tells them he will arrange to pay it. Someone who really doesn't understand would say, "Well, he was part of that." Yes, he was. We here know that.

We also know that the previous group has collected and continues collecting funds and creating debt even today. However, they neither pay these debts nor send out the items people have requested and paid for. When the people end up calling us, we are instructed by Michael to send them whatever they ordered from the other group. There are still web sites up that are selling Michael's material without his permission. Since this is the only office reproducing that material, ask yourself how are they getting it.

We have seen Michael give away material every week so don't think this is about greed or that Michael wants everything purchased through this office and not copied. That's not it. We have a very tight budget and he has to determine how much can be given away to those who have ordered from others but not received their product. Michael also instructs us to give product to people going through financial difficulties.

When you work this close to the leadership of a ministry, you learn that they are human just as we are. They have trials and the flesh, even as we. The difference is we also see Yahweh's hand moving in their lives. We can feel the Spirit of Him who made each of us moving in this work. The spiritual enemy just doesn't want our message produced and shared with the world. We can feel the spiritual attack every day. We know "we wrestle not with flesh and blood but with principalities and powers..."

Many have written about the quality of the product Michael produces. He wants God's people to have the best he can do and he demands that of us as well. We don't know if you are aware that Michael had to re-edit every teaching, both for the DVD series and for the TV series. This is not cheap. He is in the process of doing this right now and it takes a lot of money up front.

We had to purchase all new computers for the office, ten of them, as well as phones, copiers, DVD duplicators and new equipment for IMS to be able to re-edit the teachings. Michael's personal credit cards are maxed out. The Roods paid for the production of the three new teachings out of their own pocket. Most people just don't know the cost of producing an hour of teaching that is TV quality and also the quality Michael feels The Almighty's teachings deserve.

Can we be honest with you? Eight staff members, offices, long distance phone, maintenance of the web page, and outreach to Central and South America are about $48,000 per month. New equipment costs and re-editing of teachings runs around $121,000. Defending this ministry and keeping it in compliance with all state and federal laws comes to $43,000. This does not include special expenditures for producing Michael's new teachings and Glen McWilliams' Torah teaching and distributing them to you.

Even with the staff working for less than what they would be paid at secular jobs and the office expenses held to a minimum, it still takes a lot of money to meet the demands and needs of people looking to this ministry. Even when the TV time is free, there is the cost of producing episodes, duplicating them and shipping them out. Shipping alone is over $1,000 per week.

It was like a tornado or a Tsunami that hit this ministry last year wiping out the equipment and the old product. There wasn't any insurance or government program we could look to for help to overcome this type of disaster. Yah works through His people. It is the only way it is done.

This ministry needs a special shot in the arm at this time. It needs your help. Michael is doing all he can to produce new work and teaching for you who have been so faithful. He and Glen work until one would think they are going to drop from exhaustion to get out fresh weekly material. We hear them talk of the need to hear from The Almighty in order to furnish you with fresh manna.

Michael wants to start work on the Brit Chadashah in chronological order. Also, Michael and Judith have it on their hearts to be a working example of the Torah by helping the widows, the orphans, the poor and the Messianic community in Israel. Judith has agreed to take the lead in this project that has created so much excitement among supporters since it was announced. In fact, one man who helps with mailings, while doing the first "Lydia" World Outreach Project mailing, said, "I am truly moved by the Lydia Project and wish I was rich so I could fund this new work."

Michael is trying to build the studio to produce the new series. The husband of one of the ladies working here and some other men are donating their time to get the set built. The lumber company gave us a huge break in the cost of material but there was still a cost. One employee was a supervisor at her company making over $50,000 per year. She quit her position and came to work for the ministry at less than half that. Another works for a major Michigan corporation. She gets up at 3 or 4 am so she can get her work done and then come in to help the ministry.

There are sacrifices being made every day. As we said earlier, Michael isn't writing this letter, we the staff are. We are asking you to pray about what you can do to help this ministry at this time. One lady went far and beyond the usual in January at the very time when we wondered - Will we make it? - Can Michael keep up this pace? - Where will the needed extra funds come from? Yet the funds came in.

Research shows that the two most stressful things a person can go through are divorce and financial difficulties/loss of one's business (ministry). Well, we want to share with you that we can see the stress on Michael and Judith. Many mornings we come to work to find that Michael didn't go back to the apartment but worked through the night to the point of exhaustion and fell asleep on the couch in the office. Any medical professional would tell you that Michael needs to take a long rest. He does, but he won't because he knows you depend on him and on Glen to bring you a fresh word, to get the calendar out, and to complete other projects. That is no small job.

We need your support. In August and September you opened your wallets and your purses. You searched your hearts and you helped. We haven't heard from some of you for a while but we know you are praying for this ministry. Now we the staff, not Michael, are asking you to give a special gift to this ministry during the time of Passover, a freewill offering, n'dabah, (ned-aw-baw').

When Peter said to Yahshua, "Lord, we gave up everything for you..." The Messiah told Peter...well, you know what He told him.

We are told that in the past, when the Ministry had special needs, Michael went on a road tour and wore himself out to meet the need. We know you will not be a part of seeing this man of Yahweh come to a place of complete exhaustion and possible harm. Even Moses had those who came along side and held up his arms!

It is time for all of us to go the extra mile, to give a n'dabah - a freewill offering to bless the Levite and the ministry. We promise you that we, your staff, will go the extra mile here. We will work to get you Michael's and Glen's teachings, to take your calls, to write you, to do what is necessary to be a blessing to you. We are the ones who open the mail, read the e-mails and answer the phones. We know how many have already given, but if we are to get over this hump and keep up with all the demands, this ministry needs more sacrificial giving.

We are praying Yahweh will bless you in such a supernatural way for your faithfulness and generosity. We pray that many will be able to give as the Hebrews gave to build the House of Yahweh after they left Egypt. May your giving be to the point that we too can say, "No more. It is enough!"

As we said before, Michael will not share this burden with you. He trusts you like he trusts his best friend. He has told us over and over, "This is The Almighty's work and His people." We the Staff are sharing this with you and praying together for you. Thank you for all your past support.

Shalom Torah fans!

Judith and I boarded the puddle jumper at the Grand Rapids airport for the first leg of our journey to Israel to prepare for our tour group that would be arriving one week later. I cannot tell you how encouraging it is it hear the words, "Shalom Torah Fans!" as we passed through security at a major US airport. To know that even the airport security guards, who are frisking 80 year old great-grandmothers in their tireless search for Osama Bin Laden, are watching our television programs - is truly encouraging.

Since planting myself in the office chair in November, after a seven month "inter-planetary" tour, I have read literally thousands of letters from those whose lives have been changed by our teaching ministry on television and via DVD passed from one friend to another. Scores of pastors write thanking us for our making the gospel records comprehendible through the Jonah Code seminar. They are leading their flocks onto the paths of righteousness with their eyes wide open to the gospel of the Kingdom for the first time in their lives.

Because of your faithful support, we are pressing ahead with great intensity as we expand our broadcast partners in the US and around the world. We are all on the same team - we just have different temporary jobs in the kingdom. Thank you for making it possible to add new staff members to our team in Israel and the US so that I can someday return to the ministry of the word and revelation. We still need more professional staff positions filled and the ongoing support for this much needed help. Thank you for your continued prayers in support of our worldwide ministry endeavor.

As we left Michigan, we had a crew of carpenters erecting the walls to our new set that will be the background to our new weekly Torah teaching platform. Each week we will post a new Torah study guide and an in-depth commentary written by our resident Torah scholar and Spirit filled teacher, Glenn McWilliams. Every Shabbat our website will feature the full length video teaching that will be produced on our new set. We are moving ahead full speed on building the set while electricians are wiring for the lighting controls. We are praying for another qualified video technician to help with the cameras and sound staging so that we can be ready to roll as soon as the New Year arrives. We need exactly $17,800 in dedicated funds to be provided to complete the work that has begun on this set. We need to be ready to record Glenn's first teaching that will be broadcast to the world via the Internet on the first Sabbath after the barley is aviv. Call me today if you can be the financial provision for this timely ministry endeavor.

As you have been reading in our weekly internet updates, we were preparing for a March 8th Rosh Hashanah if the barley was aviv. Since it wasn't, we are ready for the Head of the Year to begin in April. We have the new astronomically and agriculturally corrected BIBLICAL HEBREW CALENDAR that has gone to press along with the restored ancient triennial Torah portions listed for each Sabbath. This is the most beautiful calendar we have every produced. You will be proud to show it to your friends. It will make an excellent gift to introduce someone to this walk. To my sadness, I will not be able to host the grand Passover that I had articulated in last month's newsletter due to a very heavy workload, insufficient staff, and financial constraints that preclude such an investment of time, personnel and resources. However, we are planning a National Shavuot celebration June 13-15. We will do it in a major venue in Denver to facilitate air transportation access.

This will be a real Messianic hoot that will promote the meeting and fellowship of likeminded saints from across the USA and even the world. Paul Wilbur and Jimmie Black are going to provide the praise and worship time for the weekend.

The Almighty will always show up at His appointed times and if we are there, we won't be able to miss Him. For the first time in over 10 years, I will be taking the audience on a chronological journey through the Book of Revelation during the weekend. Television audiences will be able to enjoy this teaching next year - but those who attend Shavuot 6008 (Pentecost 2008) will be there to see and hear it in person.

We are going to throw a party as if the Messiah himself is attending. I am trusting in The Almighty that this event doesn't make us go broke; but I know that I need to be obedient to the call and the position He has put me in. I am hoping some of you can become Sponsors of the Shavuot 6008 (Pentecost 2008) Extravaganza to ensure that the electricity stays on here in Michigan.

Next year, we hope to have the grand Passover celebration that I had been dreaming about, but this year we will start the Messianic Festivities in the US with the Feast of Shavuot. Also, consider a grand Feast of Tabernacles (on the Biblically correct dates), a weekend bash for the Feast of Dedication (Chanukah) where we will dig deep into End Time prophesy events as foretold by Yeshua and Daniel relating to the Feast of Chanukah.

Each Feast is such a joy to celebrate - the Almighty always shows up at His appointed times, even though most of us have missed Him at His events most of our lives because we didn't show up.

When Judith and I arrived in Israel, we dropped the suitcases that we have been living out of for the past 10 months and hurried down the street for the Shabbat fellowship that launched the last day of Purim. After dinner, we retired to the packed living room where we took turns reading the "Megilah" of Esther to the epithetic cat calls at the name of Haman, the cheers at the name of Mordecai, and the wolf whistles at the mention of the lovely niece, Hadassah, renamed Easter/Esther after the revered Babylonian fertility goddess. It was soooo good being back home among Messianic Jews who are keeping the feast of Purim in the 12th month (as prescribed by edict of Mordecai and Esther) instead of in the 13th month as was recently changed by the Rabbis. To be in the unity of the Spirit and in the bonds of Shalom in the land of Israel was certainly a home-coming to be savored.

Yeshua lived to set us free from the rules, regulations, and traditions of man-made religious systems. He died at the hands of those who loved their own religious kingdom more than they loved the kingdom of God. He arose from the dead in a display of the ultimate authority over men, Satan (who held the power of death) and the dream world of false religion that entangles us in its endless nightmare. We have been set free to walk in obedience to the Torah that Moses gave us and that Yeshua taught us by both word and example. We have been set free from adherence to the system so that we can live by the Spirit and do the exploits of which Daniel prophesied. (Daniel 11:32) The planet is filled with extras on the set which give background and a colorful setting for the real stars of this play we call life. The Almighty does not need any more extras on the set. He is looking for the stars - those who will "shine as the brightness of the firmament, and as the stars forever and ever." (Daniel 12:3)
